Job Purpose
To deliver independent, objective assurance and advisory services that evaluate and enhance the
effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance. The role is central to
safeguarding the firm’s operational integrity, regulatory compliance, and fiduciary responsibilities by
leading and executing internal audits across key business areas including finance, onboarding, AML,
compliance, and operational risk. With a commitment to trust, excellence, partnership, and progress,
the Internal Auditor will provide actionable insights and drive continuous improvement, ensuring the
firm remains aligned with Lloyd’s standards, FCA regulations, and best practice in the Financial
Professional Services industry.
Accountabilities
• Draft and present the internal audit and thematic review programmes to evaluate the
effectiveness of controls, risk management systems and operational processes
• Giving independent and objective assessments of the organisation’s operations, reporting,
and internal controls.
• Lead and manage internal audits across a range of operational areas including risk,
compliance, onboarding/KYC, finance, banking controls, AML compliance, and others
• Test the effectiveness of internal controls and identify opportunities for improvement to run
through the enhancement programme
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies
• Deliver insightful reports with clear recommendations that help the firm mitigate risk and boost
efficiency.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the firm to gain buy-in and drive positive
change.
• Engage with statutory auditors, external regulators, and other stakeholders
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement risk management
strategies
• Plan and execute audit engagements, including data analysis and testing
• Review financial statements and supporting documentation
• Evaluate internal control systems and ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations
• Perform risk assessments and internal control evaluations
• Identify and investigate anomalies and report to the Board
• Prepare and present audit reports to stakeholders
• Collaborate with external auditors during statutory audits and regulatory compliance
assessments.
• Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and execute remedial actions.
• Stay updated with the latest industry regulations and best practices in internal auditing.
Skills & Experience
• CIA qualification preferred or equivalent
• Proven experience leading internal audits, ideally within the FPS industry
• Solid knowledge of AML regulation, FCA requirements and Internal Audit Standards
• Strong analytical and numerical skills – you’re comfortable with financial controls and complex
data
• Confident communicator able to challenge and collaborate with senior leaders and partners
• Highly organised, self-motivated, and comfortable managing your own workload
